Bethany, how do you prepare for an audition?
Being well prepared is key for a good audition. My strength has always been dancing, and it is very important that a dancer warms up well before the audition. Not only will it physically prepare me and prevent possible injuries, but it will also mentally prepare me for the audition. This is because while I am stretching and warming up, in my mind I am calming myself down and telling myself that it is just like another class, but I'm being judged. As for the singing and acting preparation, I made sure that I could sing the song I want to sing for the audition well and with confidence. In addition, if I got to the next round, then I would make sure I knew all the lines, words and notes of the song and dialog that the director has given me.

你在面試前要準備甚麼？
充分的準備是成功面試的關鍵。我的擅長技能是跳舞，而作為一位舞蹈員，面試前的熱身動作是非常重要。這不僅將身體進入準備狀態及防止受傷，亦為我的心理作好面試準備。因為當我逵行伸展和熱身動作時，我的腦海會使我平靜下來，並告訴自己面試不過就像日常課堂一樣，只是有人在旁評審而已。至於唱歌和演戲的預備，我會肯定自己能順利及有信心地演繹我所選擇的歌曲。另外，若能晉身下一輪面試，我會熟讀所有導演給我的歌詞、音調及對白。

What was your last YAF audition like?
Like any other audition experience, I had mixed emotions, from nervous to excited then feeling agitated. Although it was very intimidating to audition for such a great organization, the audition was a lot of fun and had a very positive feel in the atmosphere. At times I felt like I wasn't doing my best, but I told myself that I cannot let that happen and to always be the best that I can. With that mindset, the audition process was not as scary as I thought it would be and during the audition I might have done better than expected because I had such a positive rather than nervous attitude towards the audition. Overall, auditioning for a YAF show is always enjoyable and fun!

參與YAF的遴選面試是怎樣的？
與一般遴選面試一樣，我的情緒都變得很複雜，由緊張到興奮，然後又覺得有點不安。雖然參加YAF這般大型機構的遴選面試確實有點可怕，但總括而言，面試的過程是很有趣及在正面的氣氛下進行。有時我感覺自己不能夠做得很好，但我告訴自己不能讓這種情況發生，並要盡力做到最好。我懷著這種心態，面試便不再變得嚇人，而積極的態度亦使我會表現得比預期理想。整體來說，參與YAF的面試是愉快和有趣的！

Top tips?
Always smile and have a good time. This will show the director that you love what you are doing and will also keep you calm and relaxed because auditioning is a little nerve-wrecking. In addition, you should give off a confident impression and always be energetic and enthusiastic! The key is to always have ENERGY!

有何面試貼士？
經常面帶微笑及享受面試的每一刻，這能讓導演感受到你很熱愛你正在做的事情，也能使你在緊張的面試中變得平靜和放鬆。此外，你要在過程中顯出你的自信，保持活力和熱情！重點是要保持活力！

What is your favourite thing about being in a show?
My favourite thing about being in a show is meeting new talented people and working with them. Everybody in a YAF musical or project are all so nice, friendly and are great and easy to work with. I also love the little "Wow I'm performing on stage with YAF" moments during a performance." The people, performances and experiences also give me amazing flashbacks and memories when I feel down or lonely. Another thing that I love about being in a show would be working with the director. She is so energetic and has crazy and amazing ideas that work so amazingly on stage! It's a lot of fun working with Lindsey and her awesomeness.

為什麼你喜歡參與表演？
參與表演讓我認識才華洋溢的人，更可以與他們合作。參與YAF音樂劇或演出的每一位都很親切、友善、優秀和容易相處。我也很愛所謂「我正參與YAF表演」的演出時刻。每當我情緒低落或惑到孤獨時，所有人、演出和體驗給我的美好經歷和回憶都使我能重新振作。另外，我喜歡表演的原另一個原因是能夠與導演麥蓮茜合作。她總是精力充沛，經常社舞台帶來非凡的演出，表現她的瘋狂和卓越想法！能夠與她合作，實在是十分快樂。

What are YAF rehearsals like?
YAF rehearsals are always fun, even when we are getting serious and into our characters, Lindsey always knows how to make things fun. We get to work with different people, learn new things, share a few of your own knowledge to other cast members and contribute in creating an outstanding performance that is always delivered every year.

能簡述一下YAF的綵排情況嗎？
YAF的綵排都是充滿樂趣，儘管我們越來越投入角色之中，麥蓮茜總能把事情變得有趣。我們與不同的人合作、學習新事物、與其他演員分享已有的知識，為每年一度的演出竭盡所能，做到最好。 How did you learn about YAF? I learn about YAF from my school having flyers about auditions for Godspell. This was my first audition for this organization and I luckily got into the show. The experience I had was amazing and very different from other musicals and plays I have been in before. That is why I then auditioned for the next musical A Chorus Line. Once again the experience was spectacular and inspiring, hence this year I am auditioning for the new musical coming up Oliver!.

你從甚麼渠道認識YAF？
我在學校裡收到了音樂劇《福音》的表演者招募單張，從此便認識了YAF。這是我第一次參與YAF的遴選面試，而我亦幸運地擠身該次演出。有別於過往曾參與的音樂劇和戲劇表演，那次演出是非同凡響。這促使我參加下一齣音樂劇《舞步青雲》的面試 。同樣，這次製作都是壯觀且令人振奮，因此我亦會參與即將舉行的《弧雛淚》招募面試。
